4 Success Mindsets

A mindset is an established set of attitudes held by someone. It’s the approach you take when things go your way and when things don’t. It’s extremely critical to take a look at this in order to respond to each situation that may come your way in the best possible way. Do you lash out at people when you’re stressed? Or do you keep a cool and collected mind in difficult situations? No need to answer now, I’ll ask you more about this again at the end of this post.

I’ve been refining these four success mindsets for some time now, and I want to share them with you today:

1) Growth Mindset

There are people that limit their possibilities by limiting their ability to grow. Some people believe their capacity has a cap that cannot be surpassed no matter how hard they work. This is a fixed mindset and you want to stay as far away from it as you can.

On the other hand, you can develop a growth mindset by taking a different perspective during difficult situations. You can, for example, see an “issue”, as a “challenge”. This will allow your mind to start figuring out a solution. Trigger your mind to work on finding a way instead of stopping at a road block. Developing a positive outlook during difficult situations will allow you to complete more tasks successfully.

2) Abundance Mindset

Look around you. Look at your accomplishments, look at your family, and look at the things you have. It might not be enough for you, but it can teach you a very important lesson. This lesson is: count your blessings for you don’t know how long you will have them.

You can develop this mindset by remembering where you started and using that to push you higher. Having an abundance mindset means taking ownership of what you can control and working in your environment to influence a favorable outcome. It means being balanced and knowing when to step back and when to push through. Some people will fall victim to themselves and their surroundings, but not you, you will break through these circumstances. Keep your enthusiasm and think big.

3) Service Mindset

“I deserve to be treated better than you”, “You don’t know who I am”, or “I’m better than you and you need to do as I say”. Have you heard any of these before? I understand that the context of each and every one of these sentences can change the meaning of them, but you can’t deny that they have a tone of entitlement.

You can develop a service mindset by being open to helping others. This could be from opening the door for the janitor in your school or building, to staying an extra hour to help a friend fix something at their home. It is through the service of others that we learn the power of community. Caring for one another will give you a sense of belonging and allow you to develop strong relationships with those around you.

4) Business Mindset

This mindset refers to financial literacy. Financial literacy is learning to have your money working for you instead of working for your money. It’s living with a budget, instead of paycheck to paycheck. And it’s developing an eye for business.

You can develop this mindset by taking the time to sit down and write your income, expenses, loans, savings, and cash. Once you have everything down, you balance all the accounts and see where you land. Money in is “+” and money out is “-”. If your number is negative, then you owe more money than you own, and if your number is positive, then you have some cushion. You can’t make a plan to grow your wallet until you know where your wallet stands. Next year we will talk more about this and how you can set up a budget.

Tell Me About Yourself

Do you lash out at people when you’re stressed, or do you look forward to new challenges? Have you limited your earnings, or do you seek for more? Do you get annoyed when helping others, or do you enjoy helping others? Do you think budgets are useless, or do you know how to read your financial information? Consider your most common attitude towards difficult moments and reflect on who you want to be. Please reach out to me if you have any questions!

This is the last post of the 2018 year. It’s my first year with TMG and I just want to take a moment to thank you for being here. Your time and support really helps me. Next year we will start strong with a “Financial Series” and I’m looking forward to going over that with you!
